Season 2010-11 at Husets Teater will open with the Danish premiere of TOMORROW IN QATAR by the German playwright, Theresia Walser, who earlier has written our comedy success A bit of lull before the storm (2008, on tour 2010). Now we are ready with a new one of her accurate and absurd comedies – this time about trains, suicide and fear of terror.
The train has been on its way for a while, when it comes to a sudden stop in the middle of nowhere. Someone has thrown himself in front of the train. Inside the compartment the passengers are waiting; at first impatient and later on desperate, but the conductor doesn’t know anything and the waitress just passes by with her mini bar. Brought together by faith and trapped in this no man’s land the confused elderly couple, the architect with a toothache, the dreamy blonde, the stressed business man and all the other passengers begin to confront each other with their dreams, longings and fears and soon the discussions completely leaves the rails. Has the train stopped just outside of Karlsruhe or are we actually in Qatar? And what is the sleeping Arabian hiding in his backpack?
TOMORROW IN QATAR is directed by Alexa Ther and the visuals are created by Edward Lloyd Pierce who has just received a Reumert of the Year 2010 as set designer of the performance No one meets someone.
